CELANE DARDEN

Celane Darden peacefully entered into eternal rest in her home on Saturday, November 21, 2020. She was born December 18, 1952 in Orangeburg, South Carolina to the late Morris and Annie Mae Brown. Celane graduated from Cardozo High School in 1970. She then married the love of her life Jimmy Darden in 1972 and from their union had a son Jervis Darden. Their union would last for 15 loving years until the passing of her sweetheart Jimmy. She began her career at the National Gallery of Art in 1977, where she would make a remarkable career of 20 years doing what she loved to do which was cooking and serving people. She was known and loved by many people. Celane, never knew a stranger. Regardless of whatever she was going through she always wore a loving smile. She was the limelight of the party and would have you laughing to tears but don’t get me wrong she did not play either. She would make it known if you Crossed the line. Celane was a woman of many hobbies, she loved to play Bingo, the Washington Football Team, the Washington Wizards, attending family functions, family reunions, and she loved seafood. She was proceeded in death by her husband Jimmy Darden, parents Morris and Annie Mae Brown, siblings Nathaniel, Shirley, Rose, Charles. She is survived by her son Jervis (Yachica) Darden, grandchildren Jionni, Jada, Jeremia, and Akilah and great grandson Paris Darden, siblings Joanne Hancock, Maurice (Towanna) Brown and her niece Darrika Erby who was considered to be a daughter to her, her best friend Joyce Cole and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A message from Joyce Cole I guess God needed you to come home and rest because your work was done. Celane, little did I know that when our path crossed in 1976 that you would become one of my closest and lifelong friends. You were a selfless person who always went above and beyond to assist anyone in need of help. When I needed transportation you allowed me to use your new car without any hesitation. I pray that her family knows how much she loved them. To my sister and my best friend of more than 43 years you will be missed but never forgotten. Rest in Peace my Angel. Your Best Friend Joyce
